Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Rwanda Gorilla Trekking collects through this website, why we need it, who we share it with and the choices you have. We have written it in plain language. If anything is unclear, contact us.

Who we are

Rwanda Gorilla Trekking is a tour operator based in Kigali, Rwanda, arranging private gorilla trekking trips and safaris. In this policy, “we” and “us” means Rwanda Gorilla Trekking, and “you” means anyone who uses this website or contacts us.

What we collect

  • Trip enquiries: your name, email address and, if you choose to give them, your phone or WhatsApp number, country, travel dates, number of travellers, interests, preferred lodges, budget and any message you write.
  • Blog questions: your name, email address and question.
  • Planner requests: your email address.
  • WhatsApp: if you message us on WhatsApp, we receive your number, your name as shown in WhatsApp, and your messages.
  • Bookings: if you book a trip, we also need each traveller’s full name as in their passport, nationality, passport number and date of birth to buy gorilla permits, together with any dietary, medical or mobility information you choose to share so we can plan safely.

Every enquiry sent through this website is stored securely in our website’s administration area so that we can reply and follow up.

Why we use it

  • To answer your enquiry or question and send you an itinerary and quote.
  • To book and run your trip: gorilla permits, lodges, transport and activities.
  • To send you the trip planner and occasional trip ideas, but only if you ask for them. Every email lets you unsubscribe.
  • To keep the financial records the law requires.

We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

We share only what each partner needs to deliver your trip:

  • Rwanda Development Board and other park authorities, to issue gorilla, chimpanzee and park permits.
  • Lodges, hotels, drivers and activity providers on your itinerary.
  • Our email provider, which delivers the messages sent from this website, and WhatsApp if you choose to contact us there.
  • Authorities, if the law requires it.

Cookies

This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and our fonts are hosted on our own server rather than loaded from third parties. WordPress sets cookies only for people who log in to manage the site. If we add analytics in future, we will update this page first.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not lead to a booking: up to two years, so we can pick up the conversation if you come back to us, then deleted.
  • Booking records: as long as Rwandan tax and accounting law requires.
  • Planner and newsletter emails: until you unsubscribe.

How we protect it

This website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, access to stored enquiries is limited to our team, and we ask our partners to protect the information we pass to them.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for planner emails. Rwanda’s law on the protection of personal data and privacy (Law No. 058/2021) gives you these rights, and if you live in the UK or the European Union you have similar rights under data protection law there. To make a request, contact us and we will reply within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page if the way we use personal information changes. The date below shows when it was last revised.
